Redesign of the 360Giving ‘Data Champions’ Programme

What we did:

Apteligen was commissioned by 360Giving to refresh the Data Champions programme with a renewed focus on supporting staff from grantmaking organisations to establish positive data cultures in their organisations. We undertook a supply-side analysis of UK data leadership and culture courses to inform the structure and pricing arrangements for the course, as well as the topic gap that the course may fill. We designed a detailed eight-session programme covering the theory behind fostering positive data cultures, and resources and approaches for changing cultures towards data use. The detailed programme contained learning objectives, session structures and activities, and examples and links to relevant resources.

How we did it:

We used our experience of supporting nonprofit organisations in their data journeys to design an engaging programme that covered core competencies and latest thinking on organisational cultures towards data use, user research, data strategies and data ethics. We drew on resources that we had used in our own work and developed for use with clients to provide example activities and templates, and we invited external partners to act as guest contributors and facilitators on the programme.

What the project achieved:

The final programme provided a clear and detailed structure for the course, with considerations for participant accessibility, immediate next steps, and programme evaluation. The programme provides the necessary background information for delivery by separate facilitators.
